复合材料

将光纤传感器植入复合材料内部或安装在复合材料表面,使工程师能够在生产过程之中、多变的作业条件下实现对应变的测量。

The ability to embed sensors within a material gives engineers scope to measure strain on components during use under varying load conditions. Already used for health and usage monitoring, in many cases this offers advance warning of problems whilst equipment is in service. As the fiber is smaller than each layer of the laminate material, it does not interfere with the properties of the structure being monitored and measures intrinsic rather than surface strain.

案例

Com&Sens (Composites & Sensing) is a Spin-off company of Ghent University and is specialized in applying fiber optic sensors to monitor composite structures

The Institute of Building Structures and Structural Design (ITKE) at the University of Stuttgart focuses its activity on the development of structures. ITKEs goal is to push the boundaries of engineering design and material science towards new applications in the field of architecture.

The University of Reading is a research intensive university and this heritage has led them to participate in the "Eureka project", in which FBGS fibers were embedded within an innovative new design of composite train bogie.
