Real-time needle tracking during MR-guided brachytherapy with FBGS’s Sensing Gear

Promising test results of a new FBG-based needle tracking system, which was specially configured, built and its performance validated within MRI environment, was reported in an article by researchers from renowned academic and medtech collaborators. The tracking system comprises a sensing stylet which is equipped with high-density FBGs and inserted in the needle, and an FBGS dynamic interrogator (FBG-scan 804D). The publication findings reveal the ability to track the position of the complete needle, in real-time, during MR-guided high-dose rate brachytherapy intervention.
