Measurement and monitoring of sub-surface and sea/river-bed pressures, provides an invaluable means of estimating a wide range of parameters associated with water surface dynamics including wave heights in a surf zone, tidal variations in estuaries, river elevations during floods and loads on coastal infrastructure. In this application distributed pressure sensing arrays fabricated from our Draw Tower Gratings have been used for real-time monitoring of the dynamic sub-surface pressures beneath water waves in a wave tank.
