FBGS International (Fiber Bragg Grating Sensors) is headquartered in Geel, Belgium and is a fully owned subsidiary of FBGS Technologies in Jena, Germany. The company has taken over a major part of the former FOS&S business, technology and staff.
Fiber Bragg Gratings are used to measure physical parameters like strain & temperature, based on the reflection of light. This technology is today applied in all kind of industrial monitoring applications.

By combining the long term expertise of FOS&S in the development and manufacturing of fiber optic sensing solutions for any sensing problem and the unique know-how of FBGS Technologies as the manufacturer of Draw Tower Gratings (DTG^®), FBGS International will consolidate the successful business of FOS&S and FBGS Technologies in three main areas:

• Supply of OEM products: DTG^® and measurement modules
• Supply of strain and temperature monitoring products
• Supply of customized products for industrial volume applications.

FBGS International will be active in different markets such as aerospace, oil & gas, electricity generation, process industry, medical, telecom and composite industry. In order to support these activities, FBGS International relies on a strong capitalization realized by a consortium of different investors: bm-t’s Private Equity Thüringen Fund (www.bm-t.de), Sylex (www.sylex.sk) Crosswise (www.crosswisetelecom.be) and Xenics (www.xenics.com). Coincident with this, FBGS’ partner and co-investor Sylex, will take over and continue the business of FOS&S in the Civil engineering & Geotechnical market with dedicated strain gauges, extensometers, displacement sensors, pressure and load cells , etc… Sylex will also continue to
support FBGS International by providing engineering and manufacturing capabilities.

The announced changes will result in more innovations generated by the extended teams, increased manufacturing capacities, improved customer service and supply performance.
